Knitted slippers enabled the employment of women

"The traditional knitted slippers - inspiration for а trendy accessory, which will make winter evenings more cozy" is a project of the company "Bhcrafts" Ltd. from Tuzla, which provided training for 13 women and employment for 19 women.

The project, which was also supported by the Challenge Found with a grant, was created in cooperation with the footwear factory „Berina shoes“ from Čelić. The products created during the implementation of the project are well accepted by customers. We are talking about a new collection of products - three models of hand-felt knitted and crocheted slippers that are hand-stitched with leather.

The total value of the project is 29.894,72 BAM, of which the company's own share is 15.149,20 BAM, and the remaining 14.745,53 BAM is the participation of the C2C fund. Thanks to the project, two new employees were hired, and indirectly 17 of them.

„Bhcrafts“ Ltd. operates as an extended arm of the homonymous NGO, registered in April 1999 and today has 10 employees. Although it is an export-oriented company, sales in B&H have a significant share in total annual turnover. "Bhcrafts" cooperates with about 180 users from both entities of BH and is especially focused on women from social margins, with a low level of education, but impressive skills in handicraft techniques. These women, along with free education, were offered the opportunity to gain regular income, which resulted in the  strengthening of self-confidence and reintegration into regular social flows.
