Ecological packaging for food storage
"We are witnessing the problem of adequate food storage, so we have done a little research to improve this within our industry. For one customer from Germany, we have manually produced a smaller series of wax cloths, which he was very satisfied with, so we decided to start more serious production", says beekeeper Radovan Maslić, the owner of the company.
The new product is environmentally friendly, biodegradable, repeated use results in the creation of less waste, and food packaged in this way retains its freshness for a long time.
"Cotton decomposes in nature in a maximum of 6 months, unlike factory nylon or aluminium packaging, which takes 30 to 40, even up to 100 years, which means that the new packaging will have a huge positive impact on the environment," explains Maslić.
The total value of the investment is EUR 50,845.00, and the Challenge Fund supported its realization with a grant of EUR 24,000.00.
"For the realization of this project, it was necessary to automate production. The investment included the purchase of a completely new plant for the production of impregnated wax cloths, and we also enabled the employment of two new workers. Introducing innovation, especially in the beekeeping sector, is always challenging and requires significant investment. The financial support of the C2C fund was crucial for the realization of our idea. Participation in the project itself is a new experience for us and it has opened some new directions in which our company could develop," Maslić points out.
"Our goal is to help every beekeeper. In addition to buying wax from our subcontractors, we produce quality honeycomb bases and food for bees, which is very important for the production of honey and honey products. That is why we are constantly modernizing production and introducing new technologies and innovations. We have become a recognizable brand not only in our region but also in Serbia and the European Union“, adds Maslić.
